It’s been almost a month since we had the pleasure of attending the NFBA (National Frame Builders Association) Expo out in Des Moines Iowa and for those of you interested in products that help out the Post Frame Industry, here are just a few highlights from the many vendors that we were able to meet with and speak about our industry!
Opening the show with the NFBA leadership team.
Some of the products like these high quality Silvercraft doors we have used on some of our projects:
The Silvercraft line of sliding doors, bale doors and dutch doors are built with solid metal, smooth swing and pre-framed to make sure that everything stays in place. They also color match our siding steel perfectly, so they are a great partner for a more finished look on our horse barns!
Other products we saw like these County Line Concept innovative tools made specifically for the post frame industry were interesting to see and may possibly help our building efficiency by reducing time to construct a building.
These Truss Spacer Bars are simple by nature but very light to make setting trusses at exactly the same every time a breeze!
County Line has made this custom tool for marking accurate cuts easily and quickly for gable ends. The HDPE base protects the steel from scratches and it locks into place for typical roof pitches such as 4/12, 6/12…etc.
Midwest Perma-Column is known throughout the industry for their solid concrete base posts, but this year, they are adding a specialty grade level post for a universal sliding door catch that looks to be a solid upgrade from many sliding door options and is strong enough to take a truck rolling over it without compromising it.
Beck/Fasco was represented at the show as well with their high quality nail guns including the massive Jumbo Nailer that can shoot up to 6″ post frame spikes with a press of the trigger!
Another product that we looked at for possibly trying out on some of our future buildings is the Skirt-Board Protector by Post Protector.
We already use their post sleeves fairly often on our buildings to separate the wood post from soil contact, and having the option to also separate the grade board from soil contact is the logical next step to protecting your building from any future rot.
Overall, the Expo was a great success and time was well spent learning from vendors and educators and talking with fellow post frame builders about best practices for our buildings.
This nifty little model of a post frame building was on display to show the many different style and options for post frame buildings, inside and out!
