Experts say waiting a minimum of four months for builder is a good sign they are a reliable.  Though not always the case, a builder that has an open schedule immediately could mean there is dishonesty involved or quality issues that has left their schedule empty.

Currently, Milmar crews are booked out till Summer 2020 at the writing of this post and a lot of the summer schedule will depend on how fast we can build through the Winter and Spring months.

Building a post frame structure can take longer than planned, because there are some factors involved that can’t always be scheduled. For instance, how hard will the ground be in February? Yes, Milmar builds in the winter! If you can dig the holes, the poles can go in the ground and most days it just takes a couple extra layers of clothes to stay warm enough to work.

Typically, post frame buildings take around 4 weeks to constuct the shell and such, but that can vary as some smaller buildings can be completed in a week or two and some larger post frame homes take several months.

Building in the Northern Indiana like we do, the weather can provide less than desirable working conditions. Too muddy, too windy, or too cold can all slow down a job site to a crawl at times. Click here to see where we build!

The Farmers’ Almanac is predicting winter 2020 to be a ‘Polar Coaster,’ meaning above average precipitation and a drag of cold weather until April! Be excited if you love snow! But then again, can you really trust what they say about the weather?

When it comes to planning your build, expect there to be delays and start the process sooner to give yourself the advantage of position in the builder’s schedule. Make sure to mentally prepare for time delays and there won’t be disappointments when it rains for two weeks straight and turns projects into mud soup.

Milmar will gladly work with you to get your dream built as soon as we can and we will always give an honest expectation of when we can start your building. Our goal is to always hit our schedule goals! While it doesn’t always work out due to factors out of our control, we are always getting better at anticipating and adjusting for any delays!

In the end, more important than getting your building up in record speed, is making sure your builder is taking care of you and giving you the best quality building for a competitive price. With the right quality measures in place, your post frame building should last a lifetime and then some!
